Four south London restaurants have been crowned winners as part of the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards. (ARTA).

ARTA is a nationwide celebration of British-Asian cuisine.

They search for the top restaurant or takeaway in a variety of categories and then invite them to come together for a series of cook-offs to determine the ultimate UK Asian restaurant or takeaway.

Voting opened back in March, and the winners were announced yesterday (October 8, 2023).

A restaurant in Hither Green, Saka Maka, has been named regional restaurant of the year

Saka Maka is an Indian restaurant in south east London with a varied menu made up of house curries, chef’s specials, a variety of appetisers and side dishes.

Taking the title of regional takeaway of the year is Mohini Balti House in Sutton.

This spot also offers Indian cuisine, with dishes on offer such as tandoori dishes, Mohini baltis, biriany, classic dishes, thali dishes and more.

Colombo Kitchen Restaurant in Kington upon Thames was named Sri Lankan Restaurant of the Year.

They have said that they use traditional, local Sri Lankan methods and ingredients paired with modern presentation to offer a “unique and dramatic” culinary experience.

The restaurant which one the Chef of the Year award is also based in Kingston upon Thames – Indian Panorama in East Molesey.

The restaurant has said that guests here are served “hand-picked cuisine that are crafted to match the Indian taste buds”.

They said: “Our high-quality food and fresh ingredients seasoned with a pinch of our love and hospitality make our restaurant perfect for an elaborate dining experience with family or just a casual hangout with friends.”
