Brentford striker Charlie Ide is yet to rubber stamp his move to Grays Athletic after jetting off on holiday without completing a medical with his new club.

The 20-year-old was one of the Bees' shining lights as they were relegated from League One last season, but fell out of favour this term under new boss Andy Scott.

The Griffin Park manager told Ide, who spent the latter part of this campaign on loan at Blue Square South side Lewes, that he was surplus to requirements earlier this month.

Question marks have been raised over the youngster's attitude after he failed to build on his breakthrough year, when he was hailed by former boss Terry Butcher as a future Bees star.

The Sunbury Manor School old boy, who started only 19 games in 2007-08 as he struggled with a groin injury, agreed terms on a one-year deal with Blue Square Premier side Grays last week.

But the Essex club, one-time home of Brentford winger Glenn Poole, have confirmed the deal was far from sealed.

"Charlie was due to come in for a medical, but has told us he is off on holiday for two weeks with his mates," Grays club secretary Phil O'Reilly said.

"It has been postponed for the time being and will be completed on his return."
