A woman has been headbutted and her dog trampled on by deer in Richmond Park.

Royal Parks Police rescued the woman and her dog who were being attacked by the deer.

The deer were reacting to another off-lead dog in the park that was trying to chase them.

Police said that her dog was on-lead.

Both the woman and the dog suffered minor injuries.

During birthing season, which runs from May to July, the rangers ask that dogs are kept on leads and away from the deer at all times in all areas of Richmond and Bushy Parks.

Royal Parks Police tweeted: “Today we had to rescue a lady & her dog after being attacked by the deer.

“The lady was head butted and dog stamped on.

“The deer were reacting to a dog off the lead who tried to chase them.

“#DogsOnLeads for a reason.

“Both the lady and dog had minor injuries.”
