Westcliff actress Maisie Smith will be reuniting with a Strictly star for her newest project.

Former Chalkwell Junior School pupil Maisie Smith, from Westcliff, filmed her final scenes for EastEnders last year.

The actress, 20, who played Tiffany Butcher, joined the programme in 2008 at the age of six.

She has now announced she will be joining former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton for Strictly Ballroom: The Musical.

Based on Baz Luhrman’s award-winning film the musical is heading out on a UK and Ireland tour.

The show is directed by Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood and follows a rebellious young ballroom dancer, Scott Hastings.

When his radical and daring dance style sees him fall out of favour with Australian Federation, he must dance with beginner, Fran.

The show features hit songs such as Love is in the Air, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps and Time After Time.

There is also new music by Sia.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Maisie said: “I’m so excited to announce that this September I’ll be making my musical theatre debut, playing Fran in the timeless production of Strictly Ballroom the Musical alongside my great friend and first dance partner Kevin Clifton.

“We be touring around the UK and Ireland. Tickets are available now. Would love to see you all there.”
