The second and third floor of a flat has been damaged by a fire which broke out in Whitton High Street.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to the scene yesterday (March 9) shortly after 8.10pm.

Firefighters tackled the blaze in a three-roomed, split-level maisonette where the “second and third floor of the building” was destroyed.

Seven people left an adjacent property before the arrival of the Brigade.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Fire crews from Twickenham, Heston and Feltham fire stations attended the scene.

The fire was under control by 9.40pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.

“Smoke was coming from windows on the upper floor.
