A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Hazrat Wali in Twickenham on Tuesday (October 12).

The Met Police said on Thursday afternoon (October 14) they had arrested a 16-year-old "on suspicion of murder" who now remains in custody at a south London police station.

As the RTT reported, emergency services were called around 4.45pm on Tuesday to reports of a stabbing on a playing field in Craneford Way, Twickenham.

Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and found an 18-year-old with stab injuries.

He was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead an hour later at 5.45pm. He was since been named as Hazrat Wali, from Notting Hill.

Hazrat's family are being supported by specialist officers from the Met.

The community including the nearby Richmond upon Thames College where Hazrat reportedly went to school are meanwhile in mourning.

The college’s principal, Dr Jason Jones, told the PA news agency: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends at this difficult time. This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our students, parents, staff and local community."

Student Connor Burberry, 17, told reporters he felt "numb" that such crimes were all too "normal".

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at Kingston Mortuary tomorrow.
