This is the horrifying moment a security guard appears to “slap” a young woman during a scuffle at Wireless Festival.

The footage, which has already been viewed more than 400,000 times on social media, shows the Crystal Palace festival goer with her hands on the security guard.

The security guard drops to his knee before the woman, dressed in a pink top, appears to hold his high-vis jacket and t-shirt in the scuffle.

The clip then shows the woman falling to the ground as a shirtless man goes up to the same security guard.

The video is captioned: "That SLAP was 10/10 OMG".

Many Twitter users have taken to the site in support of the security guard’s actions – with a number of commenters saying he was “defending” himself.

One said: “I hope this guy’s job is safe. Clearly defending himself and well within his common law rights.”

While another added: “That guy was defending himself… Good on him!! you could see he was in distress and wasn't sure what was happening.”

It has not been confirmed which day of the three-day event at Crystal Palace Park that the incident occurred on.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "On Sunday, 12 September police received a third party report of an assault at Wireless Festival in Crystal Palace Park.

"It was reported that a female had been assaulted by a man working as a security guard.

"Officers made contact with the organisers who confirmed that the man had been removed from duty.

"Further enquiries were carried out and it was established that the female involved did not wish to make a formal report to police."

Newsquest south London has approached Wireless Festival for comment.

Wireless revellers were surprised by Drake over the weekend as he made an appearance at the festival after his album Certified Lover Boy went to number one.

The Canadian rap superstar, 34, appeared on stage alongside headliner Future and the pair performed a five-song set including the live debut of their collaboration Way 2 Sexy.

The words “Hey Wireless, the boy is home” appeared on the main stage screens as the rapper, real name Aubrey Graham, made his first major concert appearance since before the pandemic.

He told the crowd at Crystal Palace in south London: “I miss you with all my heart. It’s been way too long, I forgot what this feels like.”

Other performers included Skepta, AJ Tracey, Digga D, Migos and more.
