A fire broke out at a flat in Richmond on Tuesday night.

Six engines and around 40 firefighters were called to the flat in Chilton Road in Richmond at around 9.10pm.

Half of the roof of an end-of-terrace house converted into flats was damaged by the fire.

Three people left the building before London Fire Brigade arrived and ambulance crews assessed them on the scene.

The Brigade's investigators believe the fire was accidental and involved a lighting transformer used to transform voltage down to levels that are suitable for household lighting.

The fire was under control by around 10.25pm.
