The A305 York Street has been closed due to an "accident" this afternoon according to AA Maps.
It is closed in both directions from A310 Cross Deep to Arragon Road.
AA Maps said there is "queueing traffic" and congestion to St Margarets Roundabout and along the A316 Twickenham Road.
There are also further delays into Richmond.
A detour is in operation - including for bus services.
The accident was first reported by AA Maps at 2.01pm today (Tuesday).
The Ricmond and Twickenham Times has asked Metropolitan Police for more information.
The AA Maps traffic update said: "Road closed and queueing traffic due to accident on A305 York Street both ways from A310 Cross Deep to Arragon Road.
"Congestion to St Margarets Roundabout and along A316 Twickenham Road, further delays into Richmond.
"Detour in operation."
