A pedestrian was hurt in a car crash in Twickenham this morning (Wednesday, August 11) that brought road closures and traffic disruption to the area.

Reports on social media described a heavy emergency services presence in the area around Barclays Bank on York Street, near to where the crash took place.

Road closures reportedly enforced by first responders at the scene meanwhile brought long delays and disruption for road users into Wednesday afternoon.

Responding to a request from the RTT, a spokesperson for London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed their presence at the scene and said they had treated a man injured there before taken him to hospital.

"We were called at 9.28am today (11 August) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on York Road, Twickenham.

"We sent an ambulance crew and a medic in a car.

"A man was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital as a priority."

The Metropolitan Police were contacted for comment.
