Families have told of their fury at 5G mast plans in Richmond and Kingston.
One 20 metre mast plan in Richmond has been slammed as an “eyesore” with residents complaining about their views and radio waves.
The phone-signal boosting mast is to be built on Richmond’s Sandycombe Road if plans are approved.
And the two in Kingston are could be placed on Malden Road and Latchmere Lane.
Josie Graff, who lives in flats that will look out to the mast said: “It’s a very populated area, there are other places that aren’t so close to people where the mast could go.”
The 81-year-old has lived in her flat since 1994 and added: “I don’t care about the eyesore, it’s the radio waves or whatever other 5G technology is going to affect me.”
Roxanne Spronk, a resident near to where the mast will be, said: “To me it just sounds ugly, the internet round here is not bad and I don’t feel like we need it and the council should choose a different spot.
"I think it’s just going to be an eyesore.”
She complained she will be able to see the 20m mast from her window.
The 25-year-old added: “I think it’s also going to affect the pricing of properties around too.”
“They are an eyesore and all residents will agree we do not need this in the village which is a conservation area.”
Richmond and Kingston councils will approve or reject the 5G masts at a meeting soon.
