A man has died from his injuries after an e-scooter crash in Twickenham last week.

Police said they had launched an investigation and appealed for witnessed after confirming that the 53-year-old man, who has not yet been named, sadly passed away from his injuries earlier today (Thursday, July 22).

The man's family are now being supported by specialist police, while a post-mortem examination is expected to take place "in due course".

As the RTT reported previously, the crash happened on Thursday, July 15, on Heath Road around 7.10pm when police were called to reports of a man "fallen from an e-scooter."

They and paramedics attended, treated and transferred the man to hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries one week on from the crash.

In a short witness appealing announcing the death of the man, a spokesperson for the Met Police said:

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved in the incident.

"Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157. Alternatively, call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 6701/15Jul."

The man's death follows a number of serious incidents involving e-scooters in south London in recent days, weeks a pilot scheme trialling the vehicles was introduced in several London boroughs including Richmond.
