The results of the large patient-led survey of GP surgeries across the region are in and have revealed the "best" and "worst" rated surgeries in south west London.

The results are based on the vast GP Patient Survey 2021, which in south west London CCG having sent out some 75,770 questionnaires, and 23,133 were returned completed ( a 31% response rate ).

Overall in south west London they showed a high percentage of patients that were satisfied with their GPs.

Some 85 per cent of respondents said their experience of their GP practice was 'Good' (50 per cent 'Very Good', 36 per cent 'Fairly Good') in the region,.

Best Overall Performers

The best performing practice in south west London was Dr Sugumar And Partner on Maldon Road in Wallington (SM6 8BL). A staggering 99% of respondents described their overall experience of the GP as 'Good'.

Second was The Grove Road Practice in Sutton (SM1 2DB), with 98% 'Good' rating, followed by Richmond Lock Surgery in Twickenham (TW1 1PS) and Mitchley Avenue Surgery in Croydon (CR2 9HH) both scoring 98%.

Worst Overall Performers

At the other end of the scale according to the data was the Rowans Surgery on Windemere Road in Streatham ( SW16 5HF ). Just 57% of patient respondents rated the practice as 'Good' in the survey.

Other surgeries that performed worst overall in the data included The Practice Surgeries Ltd on Edridge Road in Croydon ( CR0 1FE ), with 63% 'Good' rating, followed by Morden Hall Medical Centre in Merton (SW19 3DA ) with 68%.

Ease of getting through to GP on the phone

Another key point of interest for patients, especially in the age of Covid-19, concerned how easy it was to contact one's GP over the phone.

In south west London overall according to the data, St Albans Medical Centre in Kingston (KT2 5HF ), came out on top with 100 per cent of respondents saying it was 'Easy' to reach their GP via the phone at the surgery.

Also among the best performers in this regard as per the data were The Grove Road Practice in Sutton (SM1 2DB) and Dr Sugumar And Partner in Wallington (SM6 8BL), both being rated at 99%.

The Vineyard Hill Road Surgery in Wimbledon ( SW19 7JL ) also scored 99%.

The GP practice with the lowest percentage of respondents saying it was 'Easy' to get through to their GP on the phone was the Rowans Surgery on Windemere Road in Streatham ( SW16 5HF ), with just 38%.

Elsewhere, low scores in this regard were also recorded for The Groves Medical Centre in New Malden ( KT3 3TX ), scoring 41%, followed by the Churchill Medical Centre on Clifton Road in Kingston-Upon-Thames ( KT2 6PG) - with 44%.

Making an appointment

The survey in this instance asked respondents about their 'overall experience in making an appointment'.

The best overall performer in this regard was Begg Practice on St John’S Hill in Wandsworth (SW11 1SW). 97% of respondents described their overall appointment experience as 'Good'.

All scoring a brilliant 94% were; Riverhouse Surgery in Wimbledon (SW19 1YG), The Haider Practice in Wandsworth (SW11 1SW) and the Red Lion Road Surgery in Surbiton ( KT6 7QG).

Worst among the GP practices in south west London for overall appointment experience rated as 'Good' according to the data was the Hook Surgery at Merritt Gardens in Chessington (KT9 2GY), with 49%.

Followed by Jackson (Acorn) in Twickenham ( TW1 4EA ) and Hampton Hill Medical Centre (TW12 1NY) - with 54%.
