A restaurant and tearoom in Richmond has released a book that takes readers on a journey of seasonal recipes and family anecdotes.

Nestled inside a greenhouse overflowing with plants, Petersham Nurseries is part garden centre part restaurant.

Carved out of the grounds of Queen Anne’s former home, the property was bought by Gael and Francesco Boglione, who have lived in the adjoining Petersham House with their family since 1997.

After extensive restoration works, the nurseries reopened in 2004, and today visitors can dine in the glasshouse restaurant, browse plants in the nursery, find antiques and gifts in the shop, or enjoy seasonal food and homemade cakes in the teahouse.

The Boglione family are carrying on the legacy of the Church Lane institution with the release of a new book titled ‘Petersham Nurseries’.

Released in May 2021, the 432-page coffee table book charts their twenty-year journey from a small plant nursery behind their family home, intertwining recipes, narratives from family members and sketches of the changing seasons.

Inside the book are 240 colour photographs by Andrew Montgomery, archive photography, expert styling tips for the home and garden and 36 seasonal recipes.

This is not the first time Petersham Nurseries has been cast in the spotlight this year.

In January, it was featured in the UK’s top eco-eateries in a new category announced by the Michelin Guide.
