A Twickenham rower has been selected to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.

John Collins, from Whitton, has earned a place in Team GB for the second time to compete at this year’s Olympics, which will go ahead in Japan in July, a year later than planned.

The world championship silver medallist will race in the same event as he did in the Rio 2016 games - the men’s Double Sculls.

The 32-year-old will be racing alongside Graeme Thomas, from Preston, who narrowly missed out on the Rio games after an illness caused him to pull out of the competition.

The pair were named as part of the 45-strong rowing team that will be on the hunt for medals next month.
