Plans to convert an abandoned Deptford warehouse into an immersive three screen cinema have been made public for consultation.

Backyard Cinema, which already runs a venue in Wandsworth, will submit a planning application for the Huntman House project, on Evelyn Street, this month.

The surrounding warehouses would be split into cinemas with themed “experience areas”, which would change once a year from summer to winter, each including a snack bar.

The central warehouse space would be used for the site Box Office and information centre and food and drinks area.

The site also has a two-storey office block on the front of the building.

Backyard Cinema plan to move their entire team here and use the site as their London Headquarters.

News Shopper:

The company has offered a series of suggestions for on site activities and projects which could benefit the community.

These include discounts for locals, a pupil referral unit program, a school ticket scheme, local recruitment, and events tailored to the local community.

Backyard Cinema aims to submit a planning application later this month.

Should permission be granted, renovation works could begin in autumn 2021 with a view to opening in March 22.
