ICE could cause difficult driving conditions for motorists on Saturday morning, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the whole of Dorset and will be in force between midnight tonight and 11am on Saturday.

The Met Office says: "Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow will clear southwards during the early hours of Saturday, but some showers will affect coastal districts. Where skies clear, icy stretches are likely to form on untreated surfaces.”

It also warned there may be some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

Temperatures today are expected to reach just 3C but it will feel no warmer 0C at 3pm.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, it will feel like -4C.

A Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) for homeless people has been activated as temperatures plunge.

BCP Council issued the SWEP, with freezing overnight temperatures predicted for the rest of the week.

Councillor Robert Lawton, BCP Council Portfolio holder for homes said: “As temperatures are expected to fall below zero over the next few nights, we will be working together with our St Mungo’s outreach team to offer emergency shelter to anybody sleeping rough in BournemouthChristchurch or Poole.”

YMCA Bournemouth is offering a free emergency bed and breakfast to rough sleepers.
