SAINSBURY’S is recalling on of its plant-based food products because they may contain pieces of metal.

The supermarket says some of the packs of Plant Pioneers Six Caramelised Onion Shroomdogs with the use-by date of January 7 and 8 may be affected making them unsafe to eat.

The product has the sku number 7994995.

Customers have been told not to eat the product and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store for a full refund.

In a recall notice on the Food Standards Agency website, Sainsbury’s said: “It has been brought to our attention that some packs of the above date codes of this product contain pieces of metal.

“We are asking customers who have purchased this product not to eat it and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury's store for a full refund when they next visit for groceries & other essentials.”

Sainsbury’s said anyone with any concerns or queries or those who are vulnerable. shielding or otherwise unable to return the product to store should visit Sainsburys,co.uk/helpcontact or contact the Careline on 0800 636262.

Sainsbury’s added: “No other products have been affected by this issue. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.”
