A vacant Carlisle shop could be turned into a gambling site if plans get the go ahead.

Carlisle City Council received an application, on Thursday, for a change of use of the former Yours fashion shop on English Street in the city.

The applicant is Intervision Gaming, described as a “worldwide adult gaming company”, which operates things like slot machines.

According to the design and access statement: “Intervision have gaming machines in the US, Canada many more and would like to be established in the UK.

“Unfortunately, due to the bad perception of gambling, this has been difficult to obtain a site with planning permission.”
