Twickenham town centre was lit up on November 14 in a Christmas display funded by local businesses.

Discover Twickenham BID organised this year’s decorations which brought together over 350 local vendors for Saturday’s switch on.

Though the event was not as packed as usual – with lockdown restrictions preventing the annual Twickenham market - spirits were nonetheless high.

Mayor of LB Richmond Upon Thames, Cllr Geoff Acton, who switched on the lights, said:

“It’s a joy to see the town lit up so beautifully, this year of all years. Well done to all the local businesses that have worked together to make this happen”

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

Discover Twickenham BID is a group of local businesses that come together to improve the Twickenham community.

The BID has been going for six years and has provided events each year to help out the community.

Local greengrocers, Paul Cooper & Sons, provided the Christmas trees which deck the town centre and Twickenham Green.

In a Tweet, the BID encouraged residents to “return the love” by shopping local this festive season.

Chair of Discover Twickenham BID, Kevin Jones, added:

“Many businesses and residents said we needed a fresh display this year. We’re thrilled the response has been so positive. Fingers crossed we’ll be in normal times next Christmas and the town can really come together to enjoy the lights”.
