A lorry crashed into five vehicles at a major junction this afternoon - but no serious injuries have been reported.

Emergency services have been at the scene of a serious collision on the A1 near Hendon.

The crash happened at the junction with Finchley Lane.

A video taken at the scene showed several fire engines and ambulances, and an incident response unit in attendance, with one vehicle completely smashed - but no one appears to have been badly hurt.

The Met Police says an HGV was involved which ended up parked on a corner of the junction on the wrong side of the road.

A total of five vehicles were hit by the lorry.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 1.50pm on Wednesday, 11 November to reports of a collision on the A1 near Finchley Lane.

"Officers attended, along with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.

"It was reported that an HGV had been involved in a collision with five other vehicles.

"No serious injuries were reported. One woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"There have been no arrests. Officers assisted with arranging recovering of the vehicles."

Paramedics and the fire brigade have left the scene but recovery vehicles are still there and the A1 is closed northbound - with no access from Finchley Lane onto the A1.

There are severe delays in the area, including in Holders Hill Road, Hendon Lane, Regents Park Road, Dollis Road, and Parson Street.

The A406 is also affected where it meets the A1 at Henly's Corner.
