The Elgiva Theatre, Chiltern Open Air Museum and Wycombe Arts Centre are among creative organisations in Bucks to win a share of a £1.1 million grant to help them through the devastating effect of the coronavirus outbreak.
The government has awarded nine creative and cultural organisations around the county a total of £1,121,875. In south Bucks, Chiltern Open Air Museum is set to receive £219,008, Chiltern Music Therapy will get £118,552, Wycombe Museum will get £99,041, The Elgiva is set to receive £93,587 and Wycombe Arts Centre will get £55,147.

Elsewhere in the county, Buckinghamshire Music Trust will get £180,000, Siyan Limited will receive the lion’s share at £230,000, Pagarav Dance Company will get £76,540 and Milton Keynes Arts Centre LTD will receive £50,000.

Sam Hatfield, museum director at Chiltern Open Air Museum, said: “We have faced many challenges this year, we’ve worked hard to adapt but with limitations in place it’s been incredibly tough.
“This funding is very welcome news and will support us and enable us to continue to operate and deliver cultural and educational experiences to our visitors and community.

“We believe outdoor museums like ours are increasingly important. We provide visitors with access to 45 acres of Chilterns landscape and over 37 historic buildings from the region in an environment which enhances health and wellbeing.”
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and Arts Council England announced the £257 million cash boost to theatres, galleries, museums, arts organisations and other local venues to help save them and make sure they have a “sustainable” future.
Culture secretary Oliver Dowden said: “This is more vital funding to protect cultural gems across the country, save jobs and prepare the arts to bounce back.

“Through Arts Council England, we are delivering the biggest ever investment in the arts in record time. Hundreds of millions of pounds are already making their way to thousands of organisations.
“These awards build on our commitment to be here for culture in every part of the country.”
