A DRIVER was taken to hospital with severe injuries after a serious crash.
The collision involving a Chrysler and a Toyota happened on the A280 at Long Furlong shortly before 9.30am.
The driver of the Chrysler Voyager, a 25-year-old man from Crawley, and his passenger sustained minor injuries.
But the driver of the Toyota Aygo, a 60-year-old woman from Rustington, suffered multiple serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
The road was closed for six hourus as police carried out rescue, recovery and collision investigation work.
It reopened at about 3.30pm.
Sussex Police are now appealing for witnesses to the collision as officers look to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
A force spokesman said: "Anyone who witnessed the collision who has not spoken to police or anyone who has dashcam footage of either vehicle in the time leading up to it is asked to report online or call 101 quoting Operation Envelope."
