Watford’s local derby against Luton has been moved forward to an earlier kick-off time in case fans ignore warnings to not travel to the town, police have said.
Hertfordshire Constabulary says an early-kick off for the match on Saturday was its preference “as we look to minimise any possible impact on residents and businesses”.
The Hornets’ match against Luton Town was due to kick-off at 3pm at Vicarage Road, but on police advice this was moved to 12.30pm.
The county’s police force said in a statement: “An early kick-off was Hertfordshire Constabulary’s preference as we look to minimise any possible impact on residents and businesses if fans choose to ignore warnings not to travel to Watford.
“This match is being played behind closed doors, so fans will not be able to access the ground and as the match is not being televised, pubs will not be showing the game either. Our advice is to stay at home.”
More information is due to be released tomorrow.
