Torrential rain and large hailstones wreaked havoc in St Margarets and East Twickenham on Wednesday afternoon.
In a change from the heatwave, the extreme weather created serious floods in Ailsa Road, St Margarets.
‘The drain in the road just couldn’t cope with the volume of water,’ said eyewitness, Mary Regan.
It was reported that two houses and a garage were flooded on this occasion.
The London Fire Brigade promptly came to the rescue, using suction equipment to clear the excess floodwater.
