Two police officers have been suspended from duty after allegedly taking a 'selfie' with the bodies of two murdered sisters.

Sisters Nicole Smallman, 27, and Bibba Henry, 46, who lived in Harrow and Brent respectively, were found dead at Fryent Country Park on Sunday (June 7).

An ongoing murder investigation at the park continues as much of it remains cordoned off.

Now two servicing officers have been suspended after reports of them taking "non-official" and "inappropriate" photographs at the crime scene.

The officers were arrested on Monday (June 22) on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.

BCU Commander Roy Smith said: "They have been both bailed pending further enquires and are suspended from duty.

"These officers are from the North East Command Unit and were assisting our local north west officers with staffing the large crime scene. They are not officers from your local policing teams."

He added: "Such behaviour has no place in the Metropolitan Police Service and I will not stand by and allow it to go unchallenged.

"It damages the trust that you put in us to protect our communities.

"It is incredibly hurtful and disrespectful to the families and it is behaviour which cannot and will not be tolerated in this organisation. I condemn it."

The commander explained that he visited the family to offer his apologies, and he was "horrified" by the actions if true.

Brent Central MP Dawn Butler told Channel 4: "It is so disturbing that it is just unthinkable.

"To take a selfie with two dead women and then to share that with a forum on a Whatsapp group, it makes you wonder just what's going on and what these officers have been up to previously."

She then tweeted: "This is one of the most disturbing things I have had to speak about. As I said on @Channel4News it is dehumanising and inhuman.

"Plus the murderer is still at large. I expect the police and the media to now put some effort into finding the murderer of these two beautiful sisters."

Detectives believe the sisters were among a group of around ten people who gathered at a viewpoint in Fryent Park on Friday (June 5) from 7pm to celebrate Ms Henry's 46th birthday.

They are thought to have been left alone together as others left throughout the evening and were reported missing to police on Saturday when they did not return home.

Police say that they believe at around 12.30am, only Nicole and Bibba remained at the park before they were murdered within the next couple of hours.

DCI Simon Harding, who is leading the murder inquiry, previously said: “They were in good spirits and taking selfie pictures, listening to music and dancing with fairy lights until at least 1.13am.

“Those lights created a distinctive pattern ... This in itself may have been noticeable to local residents and other users of the park. Did you see the lights at the time and if so can you remember where you were and whether you saw anything suspicious?”

Police say phone calls to the two women went unanswered from about 2.30am. Detectives believe the killer suffered a “significant injury” during the attack.

The Met said in a statement: “These are very serious allegations and the MPS has been and will continue to provide every possible support to the IOPC investigation team as they work to establish the facts.”
