A Dartford man has been charged with murdering a father-of-five who died following an assault in Crayford.

Wayne Hoskyns, 41, was described by his widow as "a loving husband and daddy" after he died in hospital on Saturday.

Gareth Standing, 38, of Central Road, Dartford was charged with murder yesterday. He was arrested earlier that day.

Standing will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court later today.

Mr Hoskyns was attacked in broad daylight in Cray Gardens, on Friday afternoon (June 19), and was rushed to hospital in an air ambulance.

He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, with police disclosing his identity yesterday following formal identification.

Mr Hoskyns widow said: "This is an awful tragedy and we want to get justice for Wayne, a loving husband and daddy. Our hearts are breaking at this sad time."

His mother said: "He was a much-loved father, son, brother and uncle.

"His family has been left devastated by this senseless crime and loss of a young life, and we would implore anybody who saw anything or has any information whatsoever to please come forward."

A 42-year-old man who was also arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action.
