A group of doctors have donated and delivered food supplies to nursing homes to support carers during the coronavirus pandemic.
A total of 75 healthcare staff, who are members of the educational forum, Afro GP Herts pulled together to buy essential items to be donated. This included 30 loaves of bread, 120 eggs, 25 bags of pasta per home, fruit and two boxes of plantain chips.
Two GPs from the forum then volunteered to visit 14 care homes across Hertfordshire to deliver the items on April 23 and April 24.
Some of the care homes that received donations include The Mead in Borehamwood, Allington Court in Bricket Wood and Arden House in Abbots Langley.

Afro GP Herts facilitator, Dr Charles Esene said: "Our donations show that we are dedicated group of people.
"As GPs, we work directly with the care homes, we see first-hand the impact of the virus on the nursing and residential homes, and we also see the efforts by the care home staff on caring for these patients in these very difficult times.
"We recognise them as frontline fighters in the battle against this pandemic.
"Though the death toll of the virus on black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) healthcare workers is very concerning, but as Afro GP frontline NHS workers are not just determined to help stop this pandemic but also to support our community."
The groups said it will be carrying out another initiative next month to the help the community, such as more contributions to care homes in the county and foodbanks and homeless shelters.
