South Londoners who emerged from their homes for the 8pm Clap for Carers last night were stunned when a perfect double rainbow appeared in the sky.

Rainbows have become the unofficial symbol of appreciation for healthcare workers during the Covid-19 pandemic, and, after a heavy day of rain yesterday, April 30, the skies opened up in an almost perfect nod to the NHS.

Residents from across both the east and west of south London stood in doorways and poked their heads out of windows as they joined in with the weekly 'Clap for Carers' tribute and were treated to a beautiful rainbow in the sky.

Dozens in south London posted pictures to social media, with some reporting a double-arched rainbow and others seeing vivid streaks of colour.

Just in case you missed it, here's some photos people managed to snap! Or check out the gallery above.
