A NEW pottery cafe opening in Richmond gives customers the opportunity to get creative over a cup of coffee.

The Pottery Cafe has been trading on the Fulham Road, London, since 1998.

Its latest decorating studio opens on the Richmond Road, just over Richmond Bridge, on Saturday.

Set up by Bridgewater Pottery, the Pottery Cafe in Fulham was one of Britain's first interactive studios where customers could decorate their own hand made English pottery.

Most of the blank biscuitware available at the Pottery Cafe is supplied exclusively by Bridgewater Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, famous for Emma Bridgewater's unique hand made shapes and spongeware designs.

Owner Louise Collins said: "People of all ages and abilities enjoy making lasting gifts and mementoes (you just need a bit of imagination - people decorate marriage proposals on dinner plates and parents decorate mementoes of their baby's tiny footprints on piles of plates and mugs).

"The good news is you don't have to be an artist, because the Pottery Cafe has a a unique range of decorating sponges, everything from jubilee crowns to dragons, dinosaurs, fairies and flowers."

The Pottery Cafe is owned and managed by Louise together with her husband Aiden.

The pair believe that good service, friendly staff and plenty of inspiration is what's needed for an enjoyable decorating experience.

The Pottery Cafe has become a popular venue for children's parties and hen parties, as well as a very child-friendly place to visit.

Pop in to test out a cappuccino this weekend, or join the Pottery Cafe in Richmond for their Street Party Week and design your own Jubilee Mug from Monday 3rd to Friday June 7th.
