Four coronavirus patients being cared for by Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust have died.

Today's figures released by NHS England, shows the total number of deaths at the trust since the outbreak is now at 159.

The latest announced deaths occurred between last Thursday (April 16) and Saturday (April 18).

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the last 24 hours may actually have taken place days earlier.

NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."

Across England, a further 429 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died.

This brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 14,829.

Patients were aged between 40 and 101 years old.

Fifteen of the 429 patients, aged between 49 and 92 years old, had no known underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.
