MARCH has been a strange old month.
Whilst our time in the outdoors this month came to a premature end because of the coronavirus lockdown measures, at times this month its felt like spring was on its way.
With lighter evenings now the clocks have gone forward, and quieter streets now that people are staying home, our Camera Club members have been snapping some of the beautiful scenes from their garden or on their one walk of the day.
The nationwide shutdowns have have caused unintended climate change benefits. In the short period of time that the coronavirus has impacted our lives, air has become cleaner, water has become clearer and the world is slowly starting to recover from some of the damage we have made over the decades.
Some of our favourite shots this week include Lee Brant’s stunning sunset over Silchester Church, Alli Ross’s photo of the deserted bridge between Festival Place and Crown Heights, and Ken de Carlo’s photo of the outside world through his window.
This month, our camera club members were set the theme of ‘framing’.
Each month, the Gazette publishes a selection of themed images in the paper as well as selected a photograph for its ‘Picture of the Week’ feature on the letter’s page.
It is free to join and members can take part in monthly challenges and could see their images in print. To join the group, simply search ‘Basingstoke Gazette Camera Club’ on Facebook.
You can find April’s theme on the page soon!
