A community group has launched a dedicated grocery delivery service for NHS staff working at Lewisham Hospital.

The Help Lewisham Hospital support team is coordinating donations of essential foods and household products so staff can "maximise their rest time".

Operating out of The Point on Lewisham High Street, the team aim to courier packages to NHS staff in need.

In just three days, the project has raised more than £5,000.

Laurence Smith, who launched the gofundme, said; "We know there is huge demand in the area for services such as this...but for the time being, we want to keep this focused, and we want to keep our amazing health workers and auxiliary staff away from supermarkets!

"We have already taken our first orders, and can't wait to start utilising our amazing volunteers for the task of collecting them in bulk from Battersea, and then have our fast food couriers get them out to our wonderful NHS staff.

"This service is for all employees, because every single one of them is vital in standing up to the immense challenge posed by Covid-19."
