Around 40 firefighters battled a blaze which took hold on a terraced house in Mottingham.
Six fire engines were called to a house on Belvoir Close, from which three men had fled, shortly before 5am on Saturday.
Most of the ground floor and half of the first floor of an end of terraced house were damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.
Fire crews from Eltham, Lee Green, Sidcup and Bromley fire stations were able to bring the blaze under control by 6am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
