A busy night for hard-working police teams around Richmond saw several incidents responded to.

Richmond Police tweeted several updates during Wednesday night (March 18) into the early hours of Thursday morning.

The first incident was reported on social media at around 1.35am, stating that officers from police teams in Kingston and Richmond were called to reports of a suspicious package in Richmond.

A statement posted by Richmond police said: "In the last couple of hours SW59 patrolling Kingston and Richmond have attended an emergency call to a suspicious package in Richmond, attended several anti-social behaviour calls and been to check on the welfare of occupants who made an abandoned 999 call to police."

At 4.05am Richmond Police sent out another report regarding a 'stop and search' routine after a male was seen acting suspiciously on back streets near the A316.

Shortly afterwards, police teams seized a moped, after the rider was giving his girlfriend a ride home without using his 'L plates' and only using a provisional licence.

He was subsequently reported for not having insurance.

Next, officers made their way to Sheen Lane where they discovered that smoke was billowing from the pavement.

According to Richmond Police a small explosion of the power network had taken place and Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade were then called to further assist.

Police made their way to Teddington following reports that a man had crashed his car.

After taking a breathalyser test - which happened to be more than twice the legal limit, the man was arrested for Suspicion of Drink Driving.

Officers ended the night in Mortlake where they arrested a man after Richmond's CCTV camera's captured him attempting to break into cars.

Police teams arrived at the scene within three minutes and found the male inside of a car.

On seeing the police the man reportedly said:"I guess I'm nicked then."

Officers replied with a 'yes' before placing him in handcuffs.
