A teenager says she "no longer feels safe" travelling on the 281 bus route in Teddington after a man reportedly flashed her on two occasions.

The 18-year-old, who lives in the Teddington area, was on her way home from work on February 28 and got off the bus at Cambridge Road on Teddington High Street at around 9.30pm, when she was approached by what she described as "an aggressive man" who she said started shouting at her before exposing his genitals.

The quick-thinking teen grabbed her phone and proceeded to call the police, prompting the man to leave.

She told Richmond Times: "I don’t really feel very safe as he is on the route that takes me home from work, so my mum has to pick me up.

“My friends have seen him before and had altercations with him.

“The police arrived and then went looking for him, they also took a description."

But the next week, on March 2, the victim said she was making her way home from work at about 10pm, when she boarded the same bus and saw the man a second time.

Instead of shying away from him - she brought out her smartphone and began to record him.

The victim said the man had verbally threatened her and was "trying to bite her", so she called police again while on the bus.

“He had a really smug look and looked very proud to see me," she added.

"The look in his eye made me sick.

“I want to face him in court along with other girls to let him know what he's done and how it made me feel...I don’t want him to feel confident by getting away with it."

The woman also believes that she was targeted by the man because she was alone and this has prompted her to warn as many people as possible.

A post she made on social media saw other women come forward to say they had been targeted as well.

She has since told schools about the incident and has also put posters up in the area, adding that "Teddington is a family-oriented area" and that the man "should not be allowed to roam the streets, targetting people in order to sexually harass them."

A statement from Met Police said: "At 9:47hrs on Friday February 28, police received a report of a male having indecently exposed himself to an 18-year-old woman, at a bus stop at Cambridge Road, Teddington.

"The victim did not sustain physical injuries, but was shocked by the incident.

"On Monday, 2 March, police arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of indecent exposure.

"He was taken to a west London police station and was subsequently released under investigation pending further enquiries.

"Enquiries continue."
