Millwall have confirmed that a number of senior club representatives are ‘self-isolating’ after coming into contact with the Nottingham Forest owner who has contracted the coronavirus.
Lions Directors met with Evangelos Marinakis during the sides fixture on Friday night, before the 52-year-old Greek owner revealed on social media he had contracted the virus upon returning to his homeland yesterday.
“The recent virus has 'visited' me and I felt obliged to let the public know,” Marinakis posted on Instagram.
“'I feel good as I take all the necessary measures and I discipline to the doctors' instructions. I strongly advice (sic) all my fellow citizens to do the same.
“I wish all a quick recovery.”
It’s thought Marinakis met with his entire squad before the fixture which could plunge Forest’s remaining games in doubt with the possibility of a two week isolation period for the players.
Millwall released a statement that club directors did come into contact with Marinakis during the 3-0 win at the City Ground on Friday night and wil be self-isolating.
“Millwall can confirm that senior club representatives who came into contact with Mr Marinakis last Friday have all begun a period of self isolation, as per government advice.
“This is purely a precautionary measure and no individual has displayed any symptoms.
“The club will continue to follow all necessary guidance from the appropriate bodies.”
