A "prolific" drug dealer who was dramatically arrested in possession of heroin and cocaine has been jailed for more than five years.

Officers managed to track down the drug dealer's Mercedes to a block of flats in Greenhithe, and were then forced to smash the car's window to arrest him as he tried to escape.

James Parish-Taylor of Fieldfare Lane, Greenhithe, pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply at Woolwich Crown Court.

On Friday, February 21, the 31-year-old was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison.

The drug dealer was tracked down through a lengthy investigation by Maidstone Operation Raptor which identified a specific number which was being regularly used to advertise heroin and cocaine for sale in west Kent.

Extensive enquires revealed that the phone number was being used by the driver of silver Mercedes, which police began tracking.

The vehicle was registered to an address in Norfolk but the officers identified it was often parked overnight near a block of flats in Greenhithe.

On October 9, officers in plain clothes went to the area and saw James Parrish-Taylor walking towards the parked Mercedes.

The suspect saw them and ran to the vehicle where he attempted to start it, and to prevent his escape officers smashed one of the car windows and he was arrested.

Parish-Taylor was searched and found with 8.2 grams of heroin and cocaine.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of £820, was seized, and the phone used to sell the drugs was also recovered.

Detective Inspector Jon Faulkner of Maidstone C.I.D said: "This man was a prolific dealer who started the day by sending bulk texts advertising Class A drugs for sale. He then travelled to his customers from his base in Greenhithe.

"The investigators in this case have tenaciously tracked him down over many hours and were quick to detain him when the opportunity presented itself.

"His prison sentence should leave other drug dealers in no doubt that at some time soon, my officers will be coming for them as well."
