A man was rushed to hospital being hit by a car on Sheen Lane in Richmond this evening (Wednesday, February 12).

The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service (LAS) both attended as emergency services helped ferry the man to hospital and manage traffic in the area.

A Met Police statement described the man as "elderly" and said he had been taken to hospital.

"Officers are at the scene of a collision between a car and an elderly male pedestrian in Sheen Lane #SW14 #Richmond.

"The man has been taken to hospital; we await details of his condition," a spokesperson said.

As reports of traffic chaos in the wake of the incident mounted, the Met also warned drivers against using the street as their response continued.

"Drivers please avoid the area," the Met said.

LAS were contacted for comment.
