Tributes have been paid to a Basingstoke police officer who died 47 years ago this week.

PC George William Brown, of Hampshire Constabulary, passed away on January 28, 1973.

He collapsed at Basingstoke Police Station after chasing and apprehending four youths.

He later died in hospital from cardiac arrest.

The commemoration was shared to the Police Roll of Honour, a website which pays tribute to those who die in service.
