Lee Bowyer doesn’t expect to sign a new deal at Charlton before next week.

It was revealed last Thursday that new owners, East Street Investments, had offered the Addick’s manager a five-year-deal to stay at The Valley beyond his current deal which ends this summer.

Bowyer, although hopeful and confident of putting pen to paper on a new deal admits he can’t see anything being signed off ahead of his side’s trip to Preston on Saturday.

“The most important thing for me now is to concentrate on the game,” he said.

“There’s a couple of things that need tidying up which shouldn’t take long, but the game is the priority.

“We’ve had good positive conversations yesterday evening and this morning, we are nearly there.

“Just tiny things need to be adjusted and I think we are nearly there, which is very good news for me and my team.

“One of the small things we need to tidy up is my team (Johnnie Jackson and Andy Marshall).

“Of course I want to keep them, the important thing is we all stick together, we’ve moved together forward in the right way and brought the club forward.

“We’ve worked hard so I think we all deserve to be looked after like at other clubs, and I believe that is going to happen.”
