Charlton will be re-acquainted with their play-off final hero Patrick Bauer when they travel to Preston on Saturday.

The German scored the now infamous 94th minute goal for the Addicks at Wembley which secured promotion to the Championship eight months ago.

With his contract up shortly after that memorable day in May last year, the 27-year-old who amassed 135 games for the Addicks, signed for Alex Neil’s Preston.

Having recently returned to the side chasing promotion after suffering an illness, Bauer admitted he’s relishing the chance to see old faces but prioritised victory over pleasantries.

“It was a club I spent four good years at,” he told PNE.

“They’ve had a takeover and it’s a very exciting time ahead for Charlton fans.

“The owners they seem to be very exciting with the project.

“I’m very happy for them and wish them all the best for the future.

“I want to win the three points for Preston on Saturday but there’ll be a few chats with the boys at the weekend.”
