A man who reportedly lit himself on fire outside a Chislehurst pub last night is fighting for his life in hospital.
According to witnesses, the unnamed man poured petrol on himself opposite the Queen’s Head Pub, Chislehurst High Street at around 9pm.
Witnesses said the fire started following an argument outside the pub.
Police and ambulance services were called to the scene, and the man was rushed to a south London hospital, where remains in a critical condition.
Street closures were in place, as police set up a cordon.
A spokesperson for the police said: “Police were called at approximately 21:00hrs on Sunday, 8 December to reports of a man committing self-harm in High Road, Chislehurst.
“The London Ambulance Service attended and treated the man at the scene. He was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
“Enquiries continue.”
