Oswestry Town Council recently gave grants to two local sports clubs.
Mayor, Councillor John Price, presented cheques to Warren Howell of Oswestry Rugby Club, and Ray Pickett of Oswestry Olympians.
Cllr Price said the grants will hopefully help the clubs to continue the good community work they do.
“Both organisations encourage, and provide a structure for people to stay fit and active and play an important role in our community,” he said.
“The council were pleased to support the Oswestry Olympians and their 10k race, the grant will be used towards prizes for the children's races.
“Oswestry Rugby Club have recently broken a world record, they are a long-established community-based sporting organisation and have many young rugby players. The grant will be used to purchase lights for training. I am heartened that there are people like this in our community.”
