A Wimbledon woman has taken to the ‘Strictly’ ballroom, and bravely danced in front of a celebrity panel to raise money for charity.
Sandhya Sharma, 34, is a HR business partner at global management and technology company Capco and was a contestant in Action for Stammering Children’s ‘Strictly’ fundraiser.
She spent eight weeks training with a professional dance tutor, after which she performed a Cha-Cha-Cha, live in front of friends, family and a celebrity panel, headed by Strictly star Ed Balls.
Her dance partner was her colleague Richard Plumb, also 34, from Cambridge who is Capco’s executive director, who encouraged her to take part and support the charity.
Sandhya is a Strictly fan and when she was a child she learnt a little ballet, tap and Indian dancing, but she had never learnt ballroom dancing before.
He and Sandhya have raised just shy of £6,000. This means they have topped the fundraising leader board which puts them ahead of the ten other couples. They are still fundraising and so there is still time to support them by visiting their JustGiving page here.
