The Leader of Richmond will be sending almost 3,000 letters to residents to reinforce Richmond’s commitment to supporting its European citizens.

Cllr Roberts will remind people that people from the EU will be welcome to the borough now and in the future.

Currently over 13,000 EU residents live in Richmond but, letters can only be sent to EU residents that are on the Electoral Register.

Therefore, the Council is publishing the letter for other EU residents in the borough to read.

The Richmond Leader’s letter will focus on reminding residents about the vital role EU citizens have played when it comes to growing Richmond’s economy through community and business relations – as well as encouraging EU residents to apply for a UK ‘settled status.’

Gaining settled status will ensure their rights to live in the UK and will allow EU residents to continue to have the same access to healthcare, benefits and pensions.

Cllr Roberts also reminds residents that the Council, along with Citizens Advice, are holding an information session on 2nd October at 6pm at Kew Community Centre.
