Lee Bowyer singled out two players his side need to be aware of as they face Wigan this Saturday.

Despite sitting 21st in the league, Bowyer- who’s side currently sit third, won’t be taking anything for granted as they travel to the DW Stadium looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat against Birmingham last weekend.

Looking ahead to the tie the Addicks boss singled out two players he felt needed extra care of if he was going to come away with anything from the game.

“It’s a long trip and it’ll be tough,” he said.

“We’ll have to be solid, they’ve got Kieffer Moore who’s good up top.

“And Jamal Lowe, two players we played last season and caused up problems.

“They’ve got players who will hurt you.”

News Shopper:

Moore helped Barnsley gain promotion to the Championship last season before moving to the Latics in the summer, and despite not getting off the mark for his new club Bowyer is aware of his pedigree having scored 21-goals in League One last campaign.

Lowe has also failed to score this season, but with 17-goals for Portsmouth last season in League One, he attracted interest from many across the second tier including Charlton.

Back-on-form?

Paul Cook’s side have failed to register a win since their 3-2 opening day victory over Cardiff City, and have since steadied a five-game losing streak with back-to-back draws with Barnsley and Hull.

“They’ve got a good manager, experienced, and a good set of players who work hard," Bowyer added.

“They stayed in the division last season and I can see why because they give everything.

“They’re quite similar to the Birmingham, they play a similar way, so it’ll be tough

“The first goal is so important, and we’ll have to work hard, stop them when they’re in possession and defend properly.

“We’ll go there and play the best we can and try and win.”

Looking to use last weekend’s defeat as motivation, Bowyer added:

“I can’t remember the last time we lost, it hurt because it’s not happened in a long, long time, so we’ll try and make sure it doesn’t happen again on the weekend.”
