This weekend 150 black cab drivers gathered to take children from the Royal Marsden and Great Ormond Street to Disneyland.

The 'Magical Taxi Tour' began it's 26th visit in Canary Wharf on September 13, transporting over 200 children suffering from chronic illnesses.

Sue and Tony Millard run North Cheam Sports and Social Club which was a big supporter of this year's tour.

Her brother Steve was also one of the black cab drivers and so it meant even more to them, and said what an amazing gesture this continues to be.

The taxis stretched miles long when driving down the motorway and was also escorted by Met Police, London Ambulance, AA Breakdown and Gendarmerie Nationale.

A spokesman from the Magical Taxi Tour said: "The taxi drivers naturally give freely of their time and use of their vehicles.

"With your help we are determined to give more children this once in a lifetime opportunity."

We are filled with sadness that some of these youngsters have since died, but with your help we are determined to give more children this once in a lifetime opportunity."

The Royal Marsden in Sutton is the world's first hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and treats thousands of people every year.

To give the sick children a rest from the therapy and treatment the 'Magical Taxi Tour' gives them a three day break in Disneyland Paris.

The families would not be able to undertake a trip alone, it is by the medical support available that enable them to do so.

An AA spokesman said: "It was our pleasure to support the 'Magical Taxi Tour' this weekend.

"All the cabs made the 600 mile trip with only a few minor issues."
