Lee Bowyer believes that he cannot see the possibility of Charlton getting relegated this season after his side carried out a dominant performance in their 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forrest.

Charlton dominated the first-half and deservedly went ahead through Lyle Taylor’s header in the 18th minute after Leko hit the post and Gallagher had a point-blank opportunity saved by Muric.

However, Charlton’s hard work was undone by Albert Adomah’s second half-strike which was Forrest’s only clear cut opportunity in the game.

“I said to them at half-time, that is the best 45 minutes I have witnessed since I have been in charge,” Bowyer said post-match.

“I think we was frightening. We created numerous chances and we should have been maybe two-three up by half-time.

“Not just in possession, but out of possession, we was excellent. We was winning the ball back SO quick. Our press was frightening to watch for them, but we suffered at the end because we got tired.”

“Obviously we are all disappointed, to put on a performance like that in an out of possession was great to watch – for me anyway because we work on all that stuff that you have just witnessed tonight.

“That is why I get disappointed at times because I see that everyday nearly. So I know what we are capable of, so the only thing is that we didn’t get the three points that we deserved top it off but that is the game.

“They score a goal from a corner that hits someone which drops down, bang goal. You can get punished easily, did they deserve to get a point? I don’t think so but unfortunately, if don’t take your chances there is always the chance that can happen.”

Charlton have started the season unbeaten and find themselves 5th in the table, leaving Bowyer to confidently believe that his side will beat the drop this season.

“People saying we are going to get relegated, that is their choice but I think after watching tonight’s performance against a good Forrest side, I will go as far to say that I can’t really see us getting relegated if I am honest.”
