Here is how Newshopper rated Millwall’s players:

Bartosz Bialkowski – 8

Marked his full Millwall debut with a unbelievable performance. Time after time, the on-loan Ipswich keeper denied the Baggies from scoring with a range of excellent saves. Could do nothing about West Brom’s goals.

Murray Wallace – 6

Had a tough challenge taming Matt Phillips, but rose to the challenge and defended well. Replaced by Matt Smith.

Jake Cooper – 5

Looked apprehensive throughout, Bialkowski saved his skin in the first half when he was dispossessed by Matt Phillips inside the final third.

Used his experience to nullify Kenneth Zohore in the close encounters, but was beaten for pace by the striker on the home stretch.

Mahlon Romeo – 5

Kyle Edwards gave him a run for his money, and he was beaten a handful of times by the pacey winger. Injured in the second-half and was replaced.

West Brom just played around him as he failed to get on the ball and impose himself on the game.

Ryan Leonard – 7

Reinstated to the side after sitting out of last weekend’s opener and impressed. He passed the ball well when given the opportunity and was key in carrying out Millwall’s tactic at breaking down West Brom’s play.

Ben Thompson – 6

No fault for his effort, but the midfield of Jake Livermore and Romaine Sawyers proved to be too much for him.

Jed Wallace – 6

His pace and quick feet allowed him to be a threat on the counter-attack, but the former Wolves man failed to create anything compelling.

Proved to be a threat on the counter attack but failed to be

Connor Mahoney – 5

Was unable reproduce the same form witnessed during pre-season and against Preston. A very subdued afternoon for the winger.

Tom Bradshaw – 7

Fed off scraps all afternoon after West Brom dominated possessions but the striker, got his body in the way and fought for everything which led to some valuable free-kicks to be awarded.

Subs:

Matt Smith – 8

Proved that his manager should have started him. Looked in the mood and scored Millwall’s equaliser.

Shane Ferguson – 6

Did a job at full-back in the second half.
